Service Brake

Inspect

  • Demonstrate the vehicle does not pull to either side at low speed.
  • With engine running:
    • Release Parking Brake
    • Remove foot from Service Brake
    • Pull forward at 5 mph
    • Apply Service Brake
    • Come to a complete stop
    • Engage Parking Brake
    • Shift transmission to neutral

“I test the service brake by;
─ releasing the parking brake
─ pulling forward about 5 mph
─ applying the service brake until the bus is completely stopped”

“It should not pull to one side or the other.”
